Staff training is nearly here and if you’re like us you’re always looking for new ideas.

Part 1 – The Dollar Store Duel

Here’s a fun and unique staff training activity that encourages creativity and team building. Your staff will most definitely come up with new games or activities for camp, as well.

It starts with lots of random Dollar Tree (or other discount store) items. Add in a some creativity constraints, the chance for negotiations, and some camp magic and you’ll have a staff training activity you’ll be doing every summer.

Part 2 – Theming Your Staff Training

Add some pizazz to your staff training by theming a day or the whole week. Theming will help create sticky learning to help your staff learn and retain information.

We will use three themes as examples: Pirates, Superheroes, and Safari

Part 3 – Scenarios Session

Most camps use scenarios during training. It usually looks like this…the facilitator pairs up staff and gives them scripts to act out. Then there’s some discussion on how to handle it. The solutions rarely stick with the staff when camp starts with this method.
